Velvet Blazer – OOTD

A blazer is one of the most versatile pieces a woman can have in her closet. I remember I bought my first blazer when I was around 13 or 14, it cost me just under €80 and I had bought it with money I got from my birthday (you could say it also has some sentimental value). That was a lot of money for my 13year old self to spend on a single item of clothing, however, I just loved it soooo much I thought it would be worth to invest in it. Oh, I was right! 7 years later, I still have it in my closet and actually wear it! I think that blazers are a true wardrobe staple and if you haven’t already you should definitely invest in one.

Women of all ages and with any body type can rock a blazer and feel fabulous in it. No matter what your personal style is, a blazer can fit perfectly into your wardrobe. Besides the classic suit look, blazers can be worn with pretty much anything. From jeans, mini skirts, tailored shorts and trousers to tulle skirts, slip dresses and anything else you can think of. Not only can you wear them with a button-up shirt, a camisole or a bustier top, but you can also just wear them on their own! Does it get any sexier? I don’t think so. There is just something about wearing a blazer that gives me major confidence vibes. I absolutely love blazers so much and I wish more women, outside the fashion scene, would rock them every day. I feel like so many women are not confident enough to wear a blazer and feel like they can’t ‘pull it off’ but I think this is just all wrong. An A-line, midi-length dress, for example, I can understand it might not look flattering on all body types. However, a blazer? A blazer can look fabulous on anyone! A blazer is not only for the lawyers, the bankers and the models. 😉 A blazer is for every single woman that wants to feel beautiful and powerful in her own clothes.

For this outfit, I wore a velvet grey-ish blazer, paired with my favourite pair of vintage jeans. I chose a pair of hot pink heels with a thick ankle strap to add colour to the outfit but also create a casual-chic look. For accessories, I went with gold earrings, a few dainty gold rings and a silver necklace. I like mixing different metals and I think the accessories I chose matched perfectly with the whole look and complimented the colour of the blazer really well. I wore my favourite (and most worn) glittery bag. When I first got this blazer I was really unsure of how to style it due to its colour (and the velvet didn’t make it easier LOL), however, I loved it so much, I was determined to wear it! My top tip when you don’t know how to style something is to go with jeans, something white on top and a pair of really nice shoes. That is exactly what I did with this outfit and I absolutely love how it turned out. A blazer is more of a statement piece in someone’s closet; this one is also velvet and is a weird grey-ish (undefined) colour. I wanted to make the most of this fun blazer and put together an outfit that allowed it stand out but at the same time, look really good as a complete look. I think I achieved, just that, with this combination.

Above, I have linked some of my favourite blazers that are available in online stores at the moment. Going into autumn and winter, I think there are so many fun looks that can be created with blazers. The best part of it all is that blazers can also keep you really warm. You can look like a bad-ass sexy lady while staying nice and warm. Does it get any better?!
