Just me chilling on the bench waiting for the boat to get out of the shot. Dance posture has gone out of the window…
Blogs are, more often than not, all about beautiful imagery. Photographs on blogs are meant to be picture-perfect -and so is the dance world-. I love creating gorgeous imagery for my blog but this time I thought I would do something a little bit different. The other day, I woke up at 4:30 a.m. to get ready and go out for an early morning dance photoshoot (with my lovely sister as the photographer). We got some amazingggg shots but in between, we also got some amazingly horrible ones. There are some so bad that are actually inappropriate to share. Others though are simply hilarious. I thought I will post all the nice ones on Instagram, add some to my CV and my dance portfolio… but what about all the really ugly and funny ones? It would be a shame to just keep them to myself. I did a poll on Instagram asking if you would be interested to see on the blog all the, not so perfect, shots that we got and 90% said yes, so here it is! My sister and I literally had the best time taking these pictures and even though it was not easy it was definitely worth it. Plus, all the bad shots made it even more fun. P.s. The funniest shots are definitely the ones in which I was trying to do certain poses but failed miserably.
This is the face of: “I’ve had enough trying to do this freaking pose, please just let me lie here instead and let’s just forget about the stupid photoshoot”
I am hot and tired and the freaking sun is in my face!
“Oh shoot, this pose is a lot harder than I thought. I don’t even know how to do this…”
Okay, I am ready to go home now.
Photo #1: Cheeky smile thinking we might have actually gotten the shot
Photo #2: My reaction after seeing the shot. H O R R I B L E.
Going in for the… 20th attempt.
Me: “Oh come on sis, was it really THAT bad?!”
My sister: “Erm, yes. It was horrible… you can take a look for yourself.”
Me: “Erm….. Fine, forget that stupid jump!!! It’s an ugly jump anyway!”
“Wait what did you say? I didn’t hear you… is this a good angle?”
That moment you realise your body will be soooo freaking sore tomorrow but it is too late to do anything about it.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post and found it as funny as I did. No, not all the shots were so beautiful and dreamy… in fact, most of them were not beautiful. Honestly, it was the funniesttt thing when I was trying to do that ‘running’ jump in the air… it was horrible!!!!! I tried sooo many times but I just could not do it. And even when I could somewhat do the actual jump, my face would just look so ugly. It sure was fun trying though, plus I have all these pictures to look back on. It was most definitely worth the early wake-up, the 5 hours of walking around in the sun, the outfit changes and the worst part… having to interchange between wearing pointe shoes and being barefoot. For those of you that don’t know, wearing pointe shoes is very similar to wearing heels. Once you take them off, it hurts twice as much to put them back on. It was a struggle but it was all worth it in the end. Thank you to my sister for being my amazing personal photographer!
