Slip satin dresses are so in style at the moment! They are so versatile and can easily be worn all year round if layered accordingly. In this post, I will share how I style my satin dresses for a casual Sunday during the hot summer months.
For this outfit, I wanted to create a very casual look. Something simple yet with character. I wore my purple/pink ish satin dress which I got from Bershka and underneath a wore a basic white tee from Zara. For shoes, I wore my crocodile skin converse (faux skin obviouslyyy). For accessories, I layered some gold necklaces, wrapped a super cute white headband around my head and wore my vintage cat eye sunglasses.
I find that the best way to wear a satin dress during daytime is to layer it and wear a top underneath my dress. This whole trend of wearing t-shirts underneath dresses and camisoles made a comeback from the 90’s and I absolutely love it! If you live in a warmer climate you can wear a short sleeve top underneath your dress and that will add so much to your outfit. You can even choose to wear a band/slogan tee to add more character to it. If you need an extra layer on top, then any denim jacket would be perfect to bring your whole outfit together. You can even choose to wear a cardigan just over your shoulders if you want to go for a girlier look.
In terms of shoes, sneakers are really the key to making a satin dress casual. Converse, Vans old skool, Adidas superstar or just a pair of simple white tennis shoes, would be a great choice. If you are not a sneakers fan, another great option would be a pair of flat lace-up / gladiator style sandals or even a cute pair of slip-on loafers. For accessories, I would choose simple, discreet pieces and layer them. You can do that with necklaces as well as bracelets and even rings. Last but not least, you can add a pair of sunglasses to complete your ‘daytime’ outfit.
A satin dress can easily turn into a great nighttime outfit. You can pair a sexy slip satin dress, with a pair of high heel strappy sandals, and a bold statement necklace or a fun pair of oversized earrings. To finish off your look add a beautiful summery clutch, either faux leather, fabric or even made out of straw, and throw a lightweight jacket over your shoulders if the weather calls for it.
I absolutely love the sexy vibe of satin dresses and how easily they can be worn for a morning coffee or a night out. A satin dress is a truly diverse item of clothing which can totally be worn all year round; pretty impressive in my opinion. I look forward to writing a similar post in autumn to share with you how I would style a satin dress for a colder weather and how to transition from summer into the winter months.
