The Straw Bag Trend

Straw bags are huge and they are everywhere, and I am sooo enjoying this trend right now. I remember when straw bags where in style when I was a child and my mum used to have some pretty awesome ones in her wardrobe. Unfortunately, she got rid of them because she didn’t realise how freaking cool those bags would be considered now, some 15 years later. I am not a huge ‘trends’ fan, meaning I believe that if you like something you should wear it, and if you don’t like it then you shouldn’t. If I do not like something then I will not wear because it is a trend.  However, if you see something on social media 20 times a day, then, chances are, you will grow to like it, but that is something for another time. The point is, I have always loved straw bags so when they blew up a few years ago, I was more than happy to hop on the straw bags train. I feel like this summer, straw bags are bigger than they have ever been and they are literally everywhereee. I bet that every single store you walk into, will be selling AT LEAST one straw style bag and I am not complaining about it.

First of all, big straw bags are THE beach bags. Honestly, is there a better beach look than a straw bag matched with a huge straw hat?! The smaller cross-body ones, are just perfect for every day use and then the really small ones I geometric shapes, as well as clutches, are great for a night out and of course to take with on holiday.

The straw bag I have in these pictures is one I actually got from a very cheap store that I believe we only have in Greece and Cyprus, called Jumbo. I would describe it as an equivalent of Target or Primark (however it is definitely not as big as neither). I believe it was about €15 (just over £10) and not only does it make the perfect beach bag but I also do love to use it as a day bag as well. The only downside is that I cannot wear it over my shoulder (but honestly I don’t even know if I would wear it over my shoulder even if I could haha). It fits so much, it goes with so many different outfits, and it also doubles as a cute little basket for home décor. What else could I ask for?!

As I’ve mentioned I don’t really care about trends but I am just in love with straw bags because they are so wearable. Due to their material and colour, they are the perfect bags for spring and summer and they will literally go with 95% of your outfits. So should you get your hands on one, I promise you, you are going to use that bag to death. A beige toned straw cross-body bag will become your best friend and will literally be the first (and possibly only) bag you reach for during these two seasons. I certainly know that my straw bags have become my best friends.
