Denim On Denim – OOTD

A chilled and laid-back outfit could not exist without DENIM. I absolutely love denim and a pair of jeans is the way to go when you do not know what to wear. That is the situation I was in while trying to put together this outfit hahah.. I knew I wanted to wear my Zara jeans and keep the whole outfit very casual and comfortable. I paired my jeans with a white oversized t-shirt (Is there anything better than jeans and a white t-shirt?! I don’t think so!) and I wore my favourite black slip-on loafers to match the black polka dots on my jeans. Evenings in the middle of April are definitely not cold, however, they are on the chillier side so I decided to add on top my denim oversized shirt from Pretty Little Thing (FYI I had this shirt in my basked for soooooo long, it was on sale for £10 and I really wanted to get it but I thought it wasn’t worth putting in an order only for one item. Finally, my fear of it being sold out took over and I placed an order, only for one item! And I am so glad I did🙌🏼). I have worn this shirt so much and it’s actually something that I wear pretty much all year round.

This outfit pretty much consists of three colours: black, white and blue. If you follow my blog you’ll know that I am not one to dress minimalist and I live for bright colours. What makes this outfit suit my style is two things: the patterns and the two different shades of denim!!! First of all the giant polka dots on my jeans paired with the strips of my shirt give the outfit so much more character and really add ‘something’ to the whole look. Second of all, I absolutely love denim on denim and mixing up different shades, styles and patterns.

The way I see it, denim is like a white canvas which you can use to create absolutely anything with! For me, the whole idea of wearing denim on denim is brilliant. While it can sometimes be tricky to match different shades and styles of denim and you may risk being called out by the so-called ‘Fashion Police’ (if you actual care, because if you don’t then there is absolutely no downside to wearing denim on denim😉💯), if you get it right you can create some pretty awesome looks. With denim, you can go super casual and pair it with sandals or sneakers or you can go dressy, and pair it with some killer heels. I will not even get started because the options are endless! Also, speaking of denim, I am planning to do a blog post on my favourite summer denim pieces, so look out for that in the upcoming month.

Kind of going off the whole ‘denim’ topic here but this is something I did want to mention. While home for the Easter Break I found myself wearing this shirt SO MUCH! The weather was lovely however as the sun started to go down the temperature got chillier and I often found myself reaching for this shirt to wear as a ‘jacket’ I guess. Denim jackets are pretty awesome and I love wearing them, however, this shirt is just so incredibly oversized and I absolutely love that about it. It gives me such laid-back vibes and I just could not seem to take it off. Plus, it is denim so it goes pretty much with anything. Layering your outfits with shirts and thin oversized cardigans is a great way to style yourself in the spring months even beginning of summer and slowly transition into warmer temperatures.
