Colour blocking is a trend that has been around for a while and I have loved it since the very beginning. I am a huge fan of colours and prints so I obviously love colourful outfits. By putting together very simple yet bold coloured pieces you can create a truly stunning outfit and adjust it for any occasion. Colour blocking outfits give me very chic vibes! The simplicity of the clothes in contrast to the bright colours, all coming together, reminds me of high fashion and a rather expensive look.
If you struggle with adding colour to your outfits, this trend will make all the difference. I know many people that love colours and patterns as much as I do, yet they still struggle when it comes to putting together an outfit that represents that. Colour blocking is the easiest way to add colour to your outfits.
I bought these trousers on Topshop almost a month ago, I loved the colour and the fit and I was so excited to wear them. I also had this bright pink heels in my closet that I had not had a chance to wear and as soon as I saw the pink shoes next to the green trousers, I knew they would make a great outfit together! Cigarette trousers, can either be worn dressed up or down, however, by paring them with those heels definitely made the outfit more dressed up. I picked two very simple pieces, cigarette trousers and pointed toe heels, but both in very bold and beautiful colours and I put them together to create my colour blocking outfit! In contrast to what was going on from the waist down, on top, I chose to wear a white top with ruffle sleeves and tie on the waist. I really did not want to go over the top with the colours, and the white top complemented the outfit perfectly. For a bag, I picked a tiny crossbody one, glittery, in a rather natural colour with a gold chain (featured in my What I Bought During January Sales post). To complement the gold detail of my heels, I added a pair of gold earrings and my outfit was complete.
The pink heels definitely stand out, they are a statement shoe due to their colour, however that does not mean that they can only be worn with jeans or a black dress. Putting together statement pieces like that will really make all the difference in your outfits. You do not have to go overboard and put together prints and bright colours but do not be afraid to be bold. In the beginning, perhaps experiment with just one bold coloured piece at a time and you can build it up from there. Also, if ever in a doubt, white is the way to go. If you have something that you just cannot figure out what would look good with it, then chances are, it will look great with white (you cannot go wrong with white). 👌🏼
I wore this outfit for a little stroll around Chester, on a Sunday morning and even though it was a dressy outfit for that time of day, it was still not over the top. I loved wearing my pink heels, and I got so many compliments on them!
My shoes are from Corso Italia. Unfortunately they are not available anymore as I bought them last summer, however, I will add links to some similar ones. Also, for anyone that does not know, Corso Italia is a very affordable shoe store but I must admit that the quality of those heels is truly great!
Finally, a huge THANK YOU to my boyfriend who, for the first time, had the patience to actually take some good pictures of me. He is getting there… slowly but surely. 😋
