Hotel Chocolat Review

I am now in my last year of university and possibly my last year living in London. Living in this city has been amazing and I consider myself to be so lucky having the opportunity to be here. This city is always full of life and it is packed with awesome places to go to from restaurants, bars and clubs to shopping centres, theatres, cinemas etc. The options are endless and one is better than the other. You can find the coolest places in London and with that said I decided it would be a great idea to start a new ‘series’ on my blog where I will write about my experience visiting different places in London and write my honest review about them. The purpose of these posts, is to help people (whether they are visiting or staying in London) find nice places to go to around the city and also get an honesty review (from my perspective anyway) about places they would like to find out more about.

Starting off this new category of posts, I am doing a review on Hotel Chocolat in Covent Garden. This place is simply chocolate heaven! That is the only way I can describe it.

Hotel Chocolat mainly sells chocolate of all kinds but they also have beauty products (which I find kind of weird), wine and spirits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate (of course), recipe books and some food products like pasta and sauces. Of course they also come out with different chocolates for every season, like Halloween and Christmas.

They make the most amazing hot chocolate, made from actual melted chocolate and not the usual cocoa powder. My hot chocolate recommendation has to be salted caramel hot chocolate because it is simply amazing. Their hot chocolate is £3.95 and all drinks are priced pretty much the same. When you buy anything from there you get a voucher to use the same day to get any drink (any size) for £1 which I have to admit is pretty cool. So if you are planning to buy something anyway, pay for your goodies first and then get your £1 drink. 😉 The shop in the Covent Garden Market also has a very small but cute sitting area where you can sit and enjoy your chocolate and your drink. It is so cosy, especially on a cold rainy London day and it can be a very nice idea for a date.

To give a general idea on cost, I consider this shop to be quite pricey yet not expensive. A 500gr chocolate bar is £16.00 and chocolate boxes vary from £12.50-£160.00. Their prices really vary depending on what you are going there for so it does not mean that you have to spend £50 on chocolate. They have the most amazing selection of chocolate with the weirdest but most impressive flavours. All their chocolate flavours come in either a 100gr chocolate bars or a packs (80gr) of 6 chocolates both priced at £3.85. You can mix and match any of them and if you buy three or more you pay £3.15 for each. Considering how many different kinds of chocolates they have and how amazing the quality is, it is definitely worth buying a few packs when you visit the shop. From my experience you have a 95% of falling in love with everything you try because chances are, it will be absolutely delicious.

If you are planning a visit to London this places is definitely worth a visit. It is located at Covent Garden, a very popular area of London. If you are visiting the city you will probably be visiting Covent Garden as well so you don’t even have to go out of your way to find this place (however I think this place is worth going out of your way for).

I am a huge chocolate fan and I can’t wait to come here with my sisters in July when they come to visit (we are a family of chocolate lovers). I have tried chocolate from Hotel Chocolat a couple of times now and the last time I was there with my boyfriend I tried caramel cheesecake for the first time and it was amazing. If you like caramel, hazelnut, white and milk chocolate then we have similar taste. I cannot possibly pick a favourite from their chocolate range as every time I try a new flavour, it instantly becomes my new favourite. However I will say that these are my top 6 favourites at the moment 🙂 :

1. Trillionaire’s Shortbread Selector – Richer than our Billionaire’s: hazelnut praline, butter caramel.
2. Billionaire’s Shortbread Selector – Generous with caramel, abundant with cookies, lavish with smooth hazelnut.
3. Chocolate Fudge Sundae Selector – Go gooey. Rich sticky toffee, smooth hazelnut, mellow milk chocolate.
4. Simple White Chocolate Truffles Selector – Showcasing our sublime, less sweet, white chocolate truffles. Served up as a classic whipped cream truffle with a hint of vanilla.
5. Caramel Cheesecake Selector – If you’re going to do it, do it right: sour cream tang, French butter caramel.
6. Pistachio Chocolate Selector – Super-smooth pistachio chocolate sealed in caramel-milk; creamy, moreish, not-too-sweet.(Academy of Chocolate bronze winner 2016)

In these kind of posts I thought I should include the exact location of the places I am writing about, pictures of the place/products/food etc. and the prices of products/entry fee etc. In the comments bellow please let me know if there is anything else you believe I should include. That would be really helpful! Also if you have any suggestions for places I should visit and write about then again just leave me a comment below. Thank you for reading and I hope you are as excited about these posts as I am!
